As a photographer, going on a safari is an amazing opportunity and you will probably be extremely excited about the sites you are going to see and capture. You will need to make sure that you have time to plan exactly what you need as many of the flights in and around South Africa have a very low luggage restriction, so you do not want to take anything that is unnecessary.
When planning the perfect shot, you need to think very carefully about your positioning. The key to getting a great wildlife photo is really to get natural behaviour by standing back a little bit and letting the animals go about their day like they usually would.
With today’s modern digital cameras you do not need to get anywhere near as close to get a decent shot, so stand back as if you push too much you will often scare the animal away or make them behave in a way they normally wouldn’t.
If you have the time, then try and go out on a few safaris at different times of the day so you can see the other types of wildlife that inhabit that area and also how they behave morning, noon and night.
