Tips and advice for a safari holiday

Booking a safari holiday may require a little more planning than your average beach get away. You may be spending a bit more than you usually would on a trip away and will want it to be perfect.

Below are a few bits of advice that you may want to consider before and after booking the safari trip:

  • Travel Insurance – Before even paying the deposit on your safari holiday, you should take out travel insurance. You will need to make sure that you are covered should anything happen and you are not able to go on the holiday such as cancellations or illness. You will also need to check that the insurance will cover you for medical costs should you incur any and a flight home if that is what is needed.
  • Think about what money / currency you are going to be taking with you and how much. It is not advisable to start carrying round hundreds or thousands of pounds in cash as some parts of South Africa have a high rate of crime and you may find you quickly become a target. Always take a small amount of cash, traveller’s cheques and credit cards with you. This way you will always have access to money without running the risk of walking around will a lot of cash on you.
